"The Sims is the #1 best selling game of all time!"
That's not just my personal opinion, but also an indisputable fact straight
from the makers themselves! If you're not careful, you'll get sucked right in!

The Sims, the game that took the world by storm in 2000, is the ultimate Simulation game in which you custom design houses, stores, restaurants, parks or whatever else your heart desires to fill your Sim neighborhoods.

Once you've built your Sim neighborhoods to your liking, you can fill them with Sims that you design, from their wardrobes to their personalities & interests.

Here's where the real fun begins! You can totally control your Sims every move! You decide... should they go to the bathroom on the toilet or pee their pants?

Sit back & watch what happens when you leave your Sims to do things all on their own! The possibilities are endless!

What a major undertaking it must be to try to "one up" the best selling game of all time, but it looks like EA & Maxis just might have done it with their latest project, The Sims 2. The game was originally scheduled to be released this Spring, but at the end of January 2004, EA announced that it won't be ready until the latter part of 2004. (I finally saw a release date of September 14, 2004 on Amazon.com. The MSRP is $49.99, but they have it for $44.99 plus shipping.)
All of the previews that I've seen to date look simply amazing! It seems as though the developers have really listened to our requests and complaints & tried to enhance every aspect of gameplay! I know that The Sims Community is simply abuzz!
The Sims 2 is an entirely new "stand alone"game, based on the original Sims game, which will have it's own expansion packs. This "next generation" of The Sims will allow players even more control & many more gaming possibilities! (you thought that the possibilities were endless before!) Here's a list of some of the fantastic features that differentiate it from it's predecessor:
There will be six stages of developement for your Sims: infant, toddler, child, teen, adult and elder. All Sims will grow and change over time--Sims that start out as children will mature into adults, get married, have kids of their own, eventually become senior citizens & even die of old age.
You'll be able to completely customize the facial features & clothing of your Sims. In addition to cosmetic choices like hairstyle and makeup, you'll be able to make genetic choices like hair color, eye color, and skin tone. The neatest thing is that physical traits can be selected from the mother & father to be passed down to the offspring, so the Sims actually have DNA!
There will be a lot more social interactions for Sims & their kiddies to make gameplay more like real life. Your Sim kiddies will be able to be changed, bathed, put to sleep, taught to walk & talk, even occasionally play in the toilet!
You'll be able to zoom in very close to see every detail of Sim life, from the food in their refrigerators to the expression of moods and feelings on their faces.
You'll be able to build on hillsides, place windows and doors on diagonal walls, make 3 story buildings that can include decks, attics, & even a rooftop floor.
The Sims' old "paddle hands" have been replaced with articulated fingers.
It sure looks like a winner to me! I don't know how much better they could make it!
